			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The following is my view on the &#8220;Everybody Draw Muhammad&#8221; issue and Boycott/Banning of Face Book etc. as the reaction.</p>
<p>1) The boycotting and blind banning will not work in long term. We need to communicate with others for general purpose and for spreading our message. So, boycotting the information high ways, and trying to build MuslimTube/MuslimFaceBook will not work.</p>
<p>2) The action plan must be different for the pictures and offensive caricatures/material issues.<br />
a) Many website including Face Book has a policy that if some content/page is against the law of a country then it is not shown to those countries. The muslim countries officially as well as their private citizens should contact Face Book, You Tube etc. to self-ban the links of Prophet Muhammad&#8217;s pictures and offensive materials in muslim countries. (Facebook etc. did it for some other issues/pages, so it is not unprecedented.)</p>
<p>b) There is a impression that these website show bias in deleting/self-banning the material that hurts/concerns with muslims. Muslims need websites that gives real evidences of the petition filed that fulfills Face Book etc. &#8216;s terms of use, but are not positively dealt by those. These petitions will not be according to muslim&#8217;s wishes (how they want the world) but it will be according to Face Book etc.&#8217;s own policies.<br />
It will show the unbiased audience that muslim&#8217;s concerns and protests have some logical background.</p>
<p>c) For offensive caricatures/materials, we need to invoke provisions against hate speech. Again like point (b), we need to provide real evidences that this caricature or this text is considered as hate speech by Face Book etc.&#8217;s own policy regarding hate speech. The self-ban on these materials must be universal as for all other kinds of hate speech.<br />
Again, we need websites/pages that show the logically drafted petitions and the responses on those petitions to show the real problem to unbiased persons.</p>
<p>4) In long term, we can communicate with United Nations and other related bodies to change the laws concerning hate speech, if muslims have some useful suggestion that is accepted by majority of religions and other groups.</p>
<p>5) Personally, I think that there is a majority of unbiased persons who will understand the genuine issues of hate speech and local law violation and support the efforts.</p>
<p>6) For the execution of point (2), it is more a responsibility of non-supporters of boycott/ban, like myself, to do some concrete efforts (in place of just doing lip service and cursing the boycotting/banning persons.)</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Few days ago, I received an email. The author was worried about the problems Pakistan is facing. He said that the separatists emotions are taking roots in the provinces. He recommended that this troubled time is not suitable for empowering the provinces. According to him, it is the time to empower the center. I gave the following reply to him.</p>
<p>If we really want to dilute the bitterness of the provinces and separatist emotions of some individuals, would it not be better to ask the government to give proper <span class="il">provincial</span> autonomy to the provinces, and then proper administration rights to the district governments.</p>
<p>You will agree that majority of the people are not separatist, but this kind of arrogance (&#8220;shut these provincial autonomy movements&#8221;) can move them to separatist group. The best action will be to give the message that the center (establishment) understands the problems/fears/wishes of the provinces and eagerly trying to solve these issues. As a result, the propaganda of separatism will get less effective.</p>
<p>In my humble opinion, the bitterness increases and converts into extremism when provinces receives an impression that the center is not serious in solving the problem and just making vague statements to delay the issue. Let us take example of Balochistan as a test case to show why people get bitter. Few years ago, an effort had been initiated to solve the provincial autonomy and related issues of Balochistan. Mushahid Hussain and Waseem Sajjad started the work on this issue. But see what happened during last four years.</p>

<p>What is the summary and conclusion of the above news items.</p>
<p>* In March 2005, the work of committees was almost finished. But the report was still not final till December 2006. Then it was planned to start legislation in June 2007, but there is no solid progress yet.<br />
* In Decmeber 2006 proposal, 47 items from the concurrent list are recommended to be abolished. In June 2007 proposal, only 22 items are recommended to be abolished. Now, the new government too made commitment to abolish concurrent list. But it is still a commitment. (Abolishing an item/department form concurrent list means that now provincial govternment will make policy about this item/department.)</p>
<p>If the original recommendations of Mushahid Hussain and Waseem Sajjad committees will be implemented (which are moderate and not as &#8220;revolutionary&#8221; as some Baloch leaders demanded), the problem will start getting better. So patriotic Pakistanis who are worried about the well-bieng of Pakistan must be vocal for this cause.</p>
<p>In Past, for 25 years we labeled Bengalis as less patriotic and influenced by Hindus, when they were demanding their rights. The result of this strict and extremist form of nationalism/centralism was the tragedy of 1971.</p>
<p>It is politically incorrect to cite an example from India, but a &#8216;momin&#8217; should acquire wisdom wherever he finds it. In the early years, India too faced the problems of differences between different states and the center. See the following example.</p>

<p>And how this problem was solved? Indian leaders did not adopted state of denial position, and thought that time will solve this problem introduced by the enemies. But Indian prime minster announced:</p>

<div>My point is that many problems are genuine. It is true that enemies exploit these problems. But the best method to stop such an exploitation is to solve the real issue. Shouting about enemy&#8217;s conspiracy will not solve the problem. Only sincere actions can solve these issues.</div>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>An Irreducible Complex (IC) System is defined to be composed of several well-matched, interacting parts that contribute to the basic function, wherein the removal of any one of the parts causes the system to effectively cease functioning. Michael Behe and other Intelligent Design proponents argue that such a system can not be evolved, but always need to be designed.</p>
<p>Evolutionary Biologists give rebuttals of this claim. Flagellum is claimed as an Irreducible Complex (IC) system, but evidences are presented that it is not an IC system.</p>
<blockquote><p><span style="font-family:Palatino;">The assertion that cellular machines are irreducibly      complex, and therefore provide proof of design, has not gone unnoticed by      the scientific community. A number of detailed rebuttals have appeared in      the literature, and many have pointed out the poor reasoning of recasting      the classic argument from design in the modern language of biochemistry (Coyne      1996; Miller 1996; Depew 1998; Thornhill and Ussery 2000). I have suggested      elsewhere that the scientific literature contains counter-examples to any      assertion that evolution cannot explain biochemical complexity (Miller 1999,      147), and other workers have addressed the issue of how evolutionary mechanisms      allow biological systems to increase in information content (Schneider 2000;      Adami, Ofria, and Collier 2000).</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family:Palatino;">Similarly, Doolittle describes that blood clotting is not an IC system.</span></p>
<blockquote><p>In fact, Behe employs a variety of creationist arguments that have been abused      in the past. Of all these, the &#8220;improbability argument&#8221; is the most fallacious      and most misunderstood.  This statement follows upon some absurd arithmetic about      possible combinations of shuffled units  &#8230;&#8230; Its major fallacy, however, lies in the presumption that some      special combination must be achieved. When we play bridge, any specified hand      is just as unlikely as a perfect hand. But someone wins every time, whether      or not they have a perfect hand.</p>

<p>As an analogy, Behe claimed that Mousetrap is an IC system. As a reply, McDonald designed mousetraps that can work with fewer parts.</p>
<blockquote><p>To illustrate the concept of irreducibly complexity, Behe uses the  common snap mousetrap. &#8220;If any one of the components of the mousetrap  (the base, hammer, spring, catch, or holding bar) is removed, then the  trap does not function. In other words, the simple little mousetrap has  no ability to trap a mouse until several separate parts are all  assembled. Because the mousetrap is necessarily composed of several  parts, it is irreducibly complex.&#8221;</p>
<p>I wish to point out that the mousetrap that Behe uses as an analogy CAN be reduced in complexity and still function as a mousetrap. The mousetrap illustrates one of the fundamental flaws in the intelligent design argument: the fact that one person can&#8217;t imagine something doesn&#8217;t mean it is impossible, it may just mean that the person has a limited imagination.</p>

<p>Behe  responded about McDonald&#8217;s idea that mousetrap can work after removal of some of its parts.</p>
<blockquote><p>Darwinian scenarios, either for building mousetraps or biochemical systems, are very easy to believe if we aren&#8217;t willing or able to scrutinize the smallest details, or to ask for experimental evidence. They invite us to admire the intelligence of natural selection. But the intelligence we are admiring is our own.</p>

<p>McDonald too responded and gave an imaginary evolutionary path from a single wire to a full mousetrap.</p>
<blockquote><p>Here I show how one could start with a single piece of spring wire, make an inefficient mousetrap, then through a series of modifications and additions of parts make better and better mousetraps, until the end result is the modern snap mousetrap. In addition to demonstrating that a mousetrap is not irreducibly complex, I also illustrate the most important objection to &#8220;irreducible complexity&#8221; as evidence for &#8220;intelligent design&#8221;: a part which may be optional at one stage of complexity may later become necessary due to modifications of some of the other parts.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It is often argued by both creationists and a group of atheists that recognizing evolution means believing in atheism. But it is not the case. There are a lot of theist scientists who believe in religion and evolution at the same time. Wikipedia provides a good <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theistic_evolution#Evolutionary_biologists_who_were_also_theists" target="_blank">list of such scientists</a> and philosophers. An example of such scientists is Theodosius Dobzhansky who wrote <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nothing_in_Biology_Makes_Sense_Except_in_the_Light_of_Evolution" target="_blank">Nothing in Biology Makes Sense Except in the Light of Evolution</a>. He wrote:</p>
<blockquote><p>I am a creationist and an evolutionist. Evolution is God&#8217;s, or Nature&#8217;s method of creation. Creation is not an event that happened in 4004 BC; it is a process that began some 10 billion years ago and is still under way.</p></blockquote>
<p>Another scientist is <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenneth_R._Miller" target="_blank">Kenneth Miller</a> who had a lot of debates with creationists on scientific and religious basis. He wrote <a href="http://www.findingdarwinsgod.com/excerpt/index.html" target="_blank">Finding Darwin&#8217;s God</a>. He wrote:</p>
<blockquote><p>If we accept a lack of scientific explanation as proof for God&#8217;s existence, simple logic would dictate that we would have to regard a successful scientific explanation as an argument against God. That&#8217;s why creationist reasoning, ultimately, is much more dangerous to religion than to science.   &#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;</p>
<p>Evolution explains our biology, but it does not tell us what is good, or right, or moral. For those answers, however informed we may be by biology, we must look somewhere else.</p></blockquote>
